A Lifelong Calling to Care

In my 20s, I felt a deep pull to volunteer for hospice, and I loved every moment I spent with patients. From painting fingernails to walking dogs or simply listening to their stories, I was nourished by the wisdom and life experiences they shared. Those moments were incredibly special and set me on the path to finding my true niche in life.

A Foundation in Mental Health & Counseling

I earned a master's degree in community counseling, which allowed me to serve as a mental health professional for 20 years. I ran a fulfilling private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and developed an eclectic, intuitive approach that drew upon decades of experience. In 2011, my father's diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and later Lewy body dementia deepened my exploration into neurology, brain function, and the gut-brain connection. At the same time, my stepmother developed COPD, heart failure, and frontotemporal dementia, which transformed our relationship and presented new challenges.

Hands-On Experience in Palliative & Hospice Care

In 2015, I earned a master's in social work and worked in home health and hospice, including a year in Arkansas with an inpatient palliative care program. I supported patients and families in understanding chronic illnesses, creating care plans, and navigating complex systems. Returning to Arizona, I provided close care for my father and stepmother during their health decline. I lived next door, navigating doctor appointments, hospital visits, lost pets, falls, and daily caregiving challenges. Despite the exhaustion and emotional toll, I cherish the moments I had with them until the end-the heartache and privilege of being there.

Navigating Life's Challenges & Advocacy

After moving to Idaho, I supported my husband as his health declined, researching VA services, PTSD programs, diagnostic care, and Social Security Disability. This taught me the art of balancing support with respect for autonomy, advocating for loved ones while honoring their choices.

Becoming a Certified Death Doula & Ordained Minister

In 2025, I expanded my focus on end-of-life care by becoming a certified death doula and an ordained minister. These roles allow me to guide families and individuals through every aspect of the final stage of life-from diagnosis to health care decisions, spiritual and emotional support, legacy projects, and end-of-life vigils.

Transforming Life's Struggles into Wisdom & Growth

I share my story to illustrate the many dimensions of end-of-life and chronic illness care I have experienced-professionally and personally. I have faced fear, overwhelm, exhaustion, and grief, and I have learned to transform emotional reactions into empowered actions. We all experience unique rhythms of highs and lows, and there is no shame in needing support. Even as a mental health professional, I have faced meltdowns and crises. Through curiosity and deep spiritual exploration, I have learned to transform fear and frustration into resilience, grounding, and connection with spirit and intuition.
